21 Days Morocco Tour Itinerary
DAY 1: Casablanca – Rabat
- Pick up at the Casablanca airport and begin the trip with a tour of the city.
- Visit the mosque Hassan II, the biggest religious building in the country (with a 210m high minaret).
- Option to visit inside the mosque and see the amazing work of more than 10,000 handicraftsmen.
- Drive to the capital of the country, Rabat, to see the beautiful yard of the royal palace and Challah, Roman ruins, and remains of 14th century Merinid tombs.
DAY 2: Rabat – Chefchaouen
- See the unfinished mosque of Hassan and the mausoleum of Mohammed V.
- Visit OudayaKasbah, a fortress used by the Almoravides to prepare troops before they launched their attacks on Spain.
- Drive to Chefchaouen, passing through the picturesque forested area of SidiKasim.
- Get situated in your hotel and explore the town in the evening. Dinner is provided.
DAY 3: Chefchaouen
- Explore the lovely town of Chefchaouen, located between two mountains.
- Learn about the town's name, which means “horns” in Berber, and its addition to the world’s heritage sites by UNISCO in 2010.
- Discover why Chefchaouen is referred to as “The Blue Town” and enjoy photography opportunities.
- Explore the local spring, water mill, and hiking areas if interested.
- Enjoy dinner at a local spot in the main square and watch the evening life.
DAY 4: Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes
- Depart to Meknes in the morning, driving through green hills and cereal fields.
- Stop in Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco, for a guided tour.
- Visit the old village of Moulay Driss Zerhoune, where the founder of the first Arab Islamic dynasty in Morocco is buried.
- Break for mint tea in the village if time allows before heading to Meknes.
- Check into your hotel and enjoy dinner in the evening.
DAY 5: Meknes – Fez
- Explore the Ismaeli city of Meknes, notable for its beautiful gates and massive city walls.
- Visit Bab Mansour, the most impressive gate of Meknes, built in 1732.
- See the facing square of Lahdime, an animated place where townspeople come together for coffee and conversation.
- Visit the mausoleum of Moulay Ismael and other local sites.
- Head to Fez after lunch and take a panoramic view of Fez from the northern tower.
- Use the remaining time in the afternoon to see more sites in Fez and enjoy a local dinner in the evening.
DAY 6: City Tour of Fez
- Have a guided tour of the Fez medina, a true labyrinthine section of the 8th century city.
- Travel back in time to the medieval period and see people working in small narrow streets, using tiny stalls to sell their traditional crafts.
- Pass donkeys loaded with supplies, making their way down the cobbled walkways.
- Take lunch in one of the many cafes in town.
- Explore the medina of Fez, rich in Islamic monuments, including old mosques, the University of El-Karaouiyine, and its libraries.
- Enjoy dinner with an optional dinner show to finish the day.
DAY 7: Fez
- Use this free day to explore more of the city, relax in your Riad, or see sites you didn’t get to see yesterday.
DAY 8: Fez – Ifran – Medilt – Erfoud
- Head towards the Middle Atlas mountains.
- Take a driving break in Ifrantown, a famous ski resort in Morocco established during the French protectorate.
- Have lunch in Medilt, known for its best productions of apples in Morocco.
- Stop for a photo in Zizvalley, the start of palm groves and dates.
- End the day in Erfoud, the gate to the desert, and enjoy swimming at the hotel in the afternoon.
DAY 9: Erfoud – Erg Chebbi – Desert Camp
- Visit one of the workshops in Erfoud, the capital of fossils in Morocco, where they make beautiful articles out of marble.
- Drive to Erg Chebbi, take some time for a cup of tea, and pack for the desert camping experience.
- Meet your camels in the afternoon and head off on a camel-ride to watch the sunset over the Saharan sand dunes.
- Sleep in the desert in a Berber tent.
DAY 10: Dades Valley to Skoura
- Drive through the Valley of Roses to Skoura (2 hours).
- Explore the Skoura palm groves and Kasbah Amridil.
- Overnight stay in Skoura.
DAY 11: Skoura to Zagora
- Journey to Zagora (4.5 hours), passing through the Draa Valley.
- Visit ancient ksars and palm groves.
- Overnight stay in Zagora.
DAY 12: Zagora to Erg Chegaga
- Off-road adventure to Erg Chegaga dunes (3 hours).
- Experience the remote desert with camel trekking and a Berber camp.
- Overnight stay in Erg Chegaga.
DAY 13: Erg Chegaga to Taroudant
- Drive to Taroudant (6 hours) via Tazenakht.
- Explore the city's ramparts and souks.
- Overnight stay in Taroudant.
DAY 14: Taroudant to Tafraoute
- Scenic drive to Tafraoute (3 hours) through the Anti-Atlas Mountains.
- Visit the Blue Rocks and Ameln Valley.
- Overnight stay in Tafraoute.
DAY 15: Tafraoute to Agadir
- Drive to Agadir (3.5 hours).
- Relax on the beach or visit the Kasbah of Agadir Oufella.
- Overnight stay in Agadir.
DAY 16: Agadir to Essaouira
- Drive to Essaouira (3 hours).
- Explore the medina, port, and beach.
- Overnight stay in Essaouira.
DAY 17: Essaouira to Marrakech
- Drive to Marrakech (2.5 hours).
- Relax and enjoy a free evening.
- Overnight stay in Marrakech.
DAY 18: Marrakech (Full Day)
- Full-day tour of Marrakech, visiting the Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Bahia Palace, and Jemaa el-Fna square.
- Overnight stay in Marrakech.
DAY 19: Marrakech to High Atlas
- Day trip to the High Atlas Mountains.
- Visit Imlil or Ouirgane and enjoy a hike.
- Return to Marrakech for overnight stay.
DAY 20: Marrakech (Leisure Day)
- Free day to relax, shop in the souks, or enjoy a hammam experience.
- Overnight stay in Marrakech.
DAY 21: Departure from Marrakech
- Transfer to the airport for departure.
