8 Days from Casablanca to Sahara Desert
Day 1: Arrival in Casablanca
- Welcome to Casablanca! Your journey begins in this cosmopolitan city where modernity meets tradition.
- Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with warm Moroccan hospitality and transferred to your hotel to unwind after your travels.
- Exploring the Hassan II Mosque: Start your adventure with a visit to the iconic Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest mosques in the world. Marvel at its stunning architecture and intricate details as you learn about its cultural and religious significance.
Day 2: Casablanca – Rabat – Meknes – Fes
- After breakfast, we'll start our day traveling to Fes via Rabat and Meknes.
- Rabat: Morocco's capital blends history with modernity. Visit the iconic Hassan Tower, an unfinished minaret, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V, where Morocco’s royal family rests. The Kasbah of the Udayas, with its charming blue-and-white buildings, offers a peaceful escape and great views of the Atlantic. Don't miss the Royal Palace and its beautiful gardens.
- Meknes: A UNESCO World Heritage site, Meknes is known for its impressive Bab Mansour Gate and the grand Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. Explore the remnants of the royal stables and wander through the old medina to see traditional Moroccan life. Meknes is often quieter than other Moroccan cities, making it a great place to experience the culture at a slower pace.
Day 3: Fes Sightseeing with Local Guide
- After breakfast, you'll begin a guided tour of the Fes medina, one of the world’s largest walled cities.
- Explore the narrow streets lined with fresh fruit, mounds of spices, intricately woven Berber carpets, and many other Moroccan art objects.
- Visit the King’s Palace, the tanneries, and potters.
- For lunch, you may choose to eat in a traditional restaurant in the heart of the medina.
- After lunch, continue the tour and return to your riad for the evening.
Day 4: Fes – Ifrane – Ziz Valley – Erg Chebbi
- Starting at 08:30, we embark on a full travel day through the diverse landscapes that make Morocco so unique.
- Pass through the cedar and pine forests of the Middle Atlas, keeping an eye out for Barbary apes.
- Crossing over the Middle Atlas Mountains, travel through the pre-desert countryside with its deep gorges and splendid oases of green palm groves.
- Finally, arrive at the sand dunes of the Sahara Desert.
- Spend the night in a desert auberge (hotel) located right on the edge of the dunes, where you'll have dinner local-style and spend the night.
Day 5: Erg Chebbi – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley
- Wake early and climb a dune to take some nice pictures.
- After breakfast, transfer to Dades Gorge with a detour at Tinerhir, famed for its beautiful palm grove and Jewish quarter.
- Visit Todra Gorge, the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco with 300m sheer cliffs and a mouth just 20m wide.
- Dades Gorge is next, another great spot for trekking and climbing with sheer colored rock everywhere.
- Dinner and overnight in a beautiful Kasbah Hotel in Dades oasis.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Marrakech
- After an early breakfast, set off to Marrakech via Ouarzazate.
- Visit one of the jewels of Morocco – Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. In typical Moroccan fashion, the true treasures must be searched out and discovered, usually off the beaten path.
- After lunch, head over the mountains to Marrakech.
Day 7: Marrakech Sightseeing
- Spend half a day with a local guide visiting the attractions of Marrakech, such as Bahia Palace, Koutoubia Mosque, and Medersa Ben Youssef.
- Stroll around Djemaa El Fna and explore the old medina.
- Overnight at your riad in the heart of the medina.
Day 8: Transfer to Airport
- End of service.
- Transfer to the airport in Marrakech or Casablanca.
